Current Interior Design Obsessions
January 6th 2012I’m obsessed with interior decorating blogs and sites. I’m by no means an interior designer, but love love love making my home a place of my own. I’m constantly trying to make my apartment… Apartment Therapy worthy.
Currently I’m obsessed with low platform beds without frames, wood, colorful art, and organic elements. I generally like minimalist, light and airy rooms, with lots of artwork, and organic elements. I like a simple base (whites, blacks, browns) with pops of color through artwork, books, and plants.
I’ve been throwing out some of my old furniture. I am actually throwing out my bed frame and trying to get a low platform bed similar to the first image. I bought some low platform bed rails with a built in platform. If you go low with the bed, it’s important to keep all the rest of the furniture low and use luxurious bedding. Never put your mattress straight on the floor -> it will get moldy and stuff.
I use to go for more of the all white colors in my home, but lately mixing in more black elements like some of the pics below. I think black adds a bit of masculinity, which is so sessy and more forgiving. I have a very lived in apartment. My living room is also my main creative workspace… more of an office with a big workbench and even an 8 foot homosote board (like in Architecture schools) for putting up my ideas and inspirations. It’s not meant to be a showroom, I got to do stuff here (sitting at my desk). My bedroom on the other hand is my current work in progress and much more minimal. It’s my safe haven.
